It's officially April and you know what they say "April showers brings May flowers." It also means that I should try to incorporate more colour into my wardrobe. While shopping around I have been trying to add more colour to my shopping cart, but I find I still lean towards more neutral shades. I did come across this skirt the other day and couldn't leave the store without it. It's not coloured, but black and white prints seem to be the closest I will get until the weather warms up. Also I love that it has a bit of a peplum at the bottom, which is super flattering and accentuates certain curves (Hey big booty's are all the rage right now!). This skirt is from 8th + Main and is one of our favourite store's right now. They sell Vero Moda, Levi's and some other really great brands at an affordable price point.

Emily's Tasting Note
Girard’s Russian River 2013 Chardonnay
Contrary to the current trends in the wine industry that are showing an increase in unoaked, crisp chardonnays, I’ve been really enjoying nice oaky, full bodied Californian chards lately. I was eating a poached sockeye salmon glazed in a light buerre blanc sauce the other day and paired it with Girard’s Russian River 2013 Chardonnay. This was such a good pairing!! The rich white showed how complex chardonnays can be. It was rich and creamy while maintaining the flavours of tropical fruit and floral notes. The pairing heightened the flavours of the salmon and the buerre blanc sauce complimented the buttery aromas in the wine almost perfectly. I loved the flavours of honeysuckle, banana and sweet spice that came along as I enjoyed this glass. Although this wine pairs great with food, it also would hold it’s own if you were to enjoy a glass (or bottle) on it’s own. I would definitely buy this bottle again and let it age for another year before uncorking. $34.99
