Valentines day is right around the corner. While some of you will be spending it with the ones you love, others might be a little lonely. I recommend picking up one of my top 4 Valentines wines to keep you company this February 14th.

Calona Vineyards "Artist Series" Sovereign Opal 2013 Okanagan Valley VQA BC
This wine really stuck a chord with me because it's the only wine that has ever been made from this grape varietal. It came about at the Summerland Research Station and has been doing really well for Calona Vineyards. It's off-dry but still holds a nice crispness. This wine dances on your palate with flavours of tropical and stone fruits such as; passionfruit, guava and white pepper. For only the price you can't go wrong here.

Chateau l'Arnaude "Cuvée Nuit Blanche" 2013 Rose Côtes de Provence AOC France
Cuvée Nuit Blanche is the perfect pink wine for all of my lonely girls on Valentines Day. What better place to drown your loneliness in than a nice bottle of rose? This wine is very delicate with a lovely pale pink colour and a nice strawberry aroma. It's dry with a balanced acidity carries the strawberry and raspberries aromas from the nose to the palate.

D'Arenberg "The Footbolt" Shiraz 2011 McLaren Vale Australia
I really enjoyed the complexity of this Australian Shiraz. It has intense flavours of black fruits such as, blackberries and black currants, with liquorice and cocoa aromas and a touch oak. It's full bodied with medium tannin, oak and coffee flavours on the palate. The long finish and the depth of this wine compared to the price gives it an excellent value.
$23.99

De Bortoli 2009 Noble One Botrytis Semillon, Australia
Botrytis is the techincal term for "noble rot" which is a bacteria that grows on the grapes in damp vineyard conditions. Believe it or not, this is a good thing. It intensifies sweetness and adds honeyed and candied fruit flavours in ice wines and late harvests throughout the world. This botrytis affected semillon is sweet with flavours of orange marmalade, apricot, honey, green tea and gingerbread. It's a very good example of it's style and I would recommend ageing it for another year or two before cracking it open to accompany some tasty desserts.
$34.99 750ml
