Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! This year we hosted our first ever New Years party. We prepped everything a few days early and it turned out to be a fantastic night. We made these metallic themed cupcakes with mini champagne bottles and we think they're Martha Stewart worthy (almost).

The cupcakes paired perfectly with these double sided Kate Spade coasters from Chapters! We took a lot of pictures of them... We couldn't help ourselves. They turned out better than we both thought possible!

A super cute nontraditional way of serving dip and chips is in martini glasses!

If you thought the fun part of this post was over it's only just beginning... On to the wine!

Church & State Wines

We discovered Church & State Wines this summer when we did a wine tour through Oliver and Osoyoos. It is a gorgeous winery with a tasting bar outside. All of the wines were complex and boasted great flavour. After tasting this wine in the summer I knew this would be the perfect wine to ring in the new year. It is a great example of a traditional Chardonnay with balanced fruit and oak flavours. It gives the impression of freshly buttered popcorn and a nice yeasty toastiness.

Bartier Bros.

After trying the Bartier Bros Illegal Curve at Christmas we decided we wanted to try out one of their white wines. When Emily found this bottle she was suprised to find a pure Semillon as they're commonly found in blends with either Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blancs. It had flavours of spice, apricot and citrus. It could age for a couple more years to help balance the acidity.

 Bottega Gold
Brut Prosecco

It wouldn't be New Years without bubbles. To be honest we only picked Bottega because of the gorgeous gold bottle. It fit our theme perfectly and tasted delicious. It was crisp, light and fruity as a good prosecco should be.

The night got a little foggy after three bottles of wine, but we're glad we got to spend it with each other.

We are so excited to have started this blogging journey together and we have some great things planned for 2015!
