Home for the Holidays

Yesterday we gathered around the fire at our parents house for food, drinks and presents. The wine was flowing, there was an abundance of Christmas baking and there were many laughs. It was our Mom's first Christmas decorating the house without us and she did a fantastic job! See below for more pictures and for our wine tasting notes.

We were all spoiled rotten this year. Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

2012 Illegal Curve

Blend: 54% Cabernet Franc, 39% Syrah, 7% Merlot

We bought this bottle of wine in Vancouver to bring home to our father who is a huge hockey fan. As it turns out it was very fitting as it was bottled in our hometown Summerland, BC.

The nose was clean with notes of cherry, leather and black pepper. The first sip brought flavours of under ripe cherry, cassis, pepper and meaty aromas. It was dry, medium to full bodied with medium acidity creating balance and complexity. The long finish made for a good quality wine for the $20 price tag.

Merry Christmas!
