As Beyonce says "I woke up like this." I want to tell you that I did not. When I was growing up I was never the girl with perfect skin. In fact I envied girls with unblemished glowing faces. I have tried many different products from drug stores to high end skin care stores over the years. Recently I have been receiving quite a few compliments on my skin and figured I would share my skin care journey. It has taken me a while, but I have finally found the perfect combination of skin care products to help me achieve a flawless look.

My Skin Story
When I was a teen I started to break out on my T-zone. I struggled really bad with painful blemishes and decided I wanted to start taking charge of my skin. As a many of us have done, I went to the drug store and browsed the beauty aisle. I remember the first product I ever tried was the super strong Oxy cleansing pads and over time I switched to every Neutrogena, Loreal, and Clean and Clear product under the sun. Most of the products I was trying either worked for a short amount of time or not at all. They were not a compatible match to battle my skin care needs.

My skin is quite temper mental to weather changes and my skin fluctuates between products for dry/normal skin to normal/oily. About six years ago I started using the Body Shop's skin care line's. I say "line's" because I have tried the Tea Tree oil line for oily skin to their Vitamin E line for sensitive dry skin. I loved the fact that they use natural elements in their products, but I would still occasionally get break out's in my T zone. I was still on the hunt for a product that would help my skin stay blemish free.

A little over a year ago I discovered Kiehl's and I have been consistently using the same products and have not had to switch to different lines. Only days after I switched, my skin had a healthy natural glow and I was noticing my pores getting smaller. The nice thing about Kiehl's is they will often give you samples to try out a product before you make your purchase.

Skin Care Routine

My daily skin care routine consists of six products.

Makeup Remover
Bioderma Sensibio H20 I just discovered at the end of August and it is a godsend. It is a cleanser and makeup remover in one. I use it to take off my the makeup before I wash my face and also use it afterwards to tone and get any makeup that my face wash may have missed. You can also find it at some drug stores.

My everyday face wash is the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser. It is the perfect daily cleanser as it balances the PH levels without over drying my skin. It also manages to take off any of my leftover make up.

I switch between my every day cleanser and the Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser. I use it about two to three times a week to exfoliate and get rid of any dead skin. It leaves my face feeling soft, clean and rids my skin of toxins.

Herbivore Balance is a 100% natural spray toning elixir. It has witch hazel and aloe vera, which clear any impurities. I apply it right after I jump out of the shower or wash my face. I have been using this on my face and also my back, which unfortunately breaks out from time to time. It also smells super fresh!

For me there is a fine line between moisturizer that is too oily or too gel-like. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer is a happy medium and always leaves my face feeling soft and hydrated.

Kiehl's Soy Milk and honey body polish is a great exfoliator for people who have sensitive skin, but still need exfoliation to get rid of dry skin.

Most of the items I have mentioned above are between $15 - $30 per product. They are a little bit pricey, but for myself I am willing to spend a little to feel confident and take extra care of my skin (it's the only one you've got!).

Almost all of the products I have tried have come recommended by people I know or I've found online. I wish you well on your skin care journey, if you have tried anything you believe to be an amazing skin care product let me know in the comments below!

Everyone's skin reacts to products differently. I am speaking from my own personal experiences.

Shine on!
